That’s because, just like a unicorn, an exclusively green product home and lifestyle department store, doesn’t exist.
But, don’t worry, we have a plan. For a small group of a million people like you to make sure it will exist – sooner rather than later.
BethAnn Lederer, founder, and principal of WorkingWonders™ started developing the plan for what she was told would be a game-changing green home shopping brand in 2006.
What will make Greeningdales “game-changing” is it will give you everything you need to make your home healthy and sustainable – in one place, online and offline.
After the basic plan was developed she, along with some great people, created a series of presentations. They were then shown to people who have the same kind of passion for “the new green economy” and protection of the Earth that Lederer and her team have.
Virtually, every green industry leader she contacted and shared the plan with provided positive feedback. And while the positive feedback from green industry leaders was wonderful, the project, if it will ever become real needs significant funding to happen.
It was so perplexing to Lederer to get so many kudos without being able to move forward to make Greeningdales happen. The trajectory she was on looked lot like being Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, only without anyone properly identifying the (emerald) city where she could make contact with him.
It went like this. One green leader would tell her she needed to contact another one, who in turn, insisted she contact yet someone else they recommended.
So, over time, a Couple of Things Became Increasingly Clear
- Those who understood and were aligned with the concept were focussed on working in another area of the green economy – like sustainable food, energy, transportation or buildings.
- And second, those already involved in home and lifestyle retail would have their hands tied. They were beholden to their investor stakeholders who had already invested, and were profiting, from their unsustainable existing supply chains – so would not be inclined to want to change.
So, It’s now up to You
Since 2006 Lederer and her team have spoken to thousands of people who, like you, have been looking for better products and feel frustrated when they spend crazy amounts of time and energy trying to find them.
So, now, she wants to share the presentations she and her team prepared for all those investors, like Justin Fishkin, then Senior Portfolio Manager of The Carbon War Room, with you.
She is betting on people who are getting fed up with the non-existent green economy.
It’s a time when large groups of people are being successful at pooling millions of dollars towards:
- getting movies they want to be made produced
- software they want to use invented
- even single products manufactured
The only way Greeningdales™ or the Village of WorkingWonders™ will get created as the game-changing sustainable department store it would be – if enough people want to make it happen.
The elements in the space are to provide a professional architect’s perspective of how the different spaces relate to one another in proximity and size. They do not represent the actual shape of the spaces shown.
. This Village of WorkingWonders™ has a relatively small footprint for the revolution in retail it will set off.
